You may have heard of the wingnut running as an Independent on this year's Canadian Federal election, up in one of the Northern Ontario ridings, who claimed (and confirmed it later, on radio in Toronto, more on "how insane is that?" in a sec) that all gays/lesbians should be executed. He was quite pleasant about the whole thing, calm as milk, but insistent that if you were gay or lesbian, for the betterment of the human race, you should be put down. As painlessly as possible, of course...
The "clarification" on a Toronto radio station ("Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Yes, even you, Lesbian Guest, even though you seem quite the pleasant person and we get along well.") attracted the attention of Toronto Police, who are currently investigating under Hate Crimes legislation. They have to determine if they even have jurisdiction, as the radio interview happened telephonically and the candidate was still up in the Frozen North. Thing is, Toronto has (a) a relatively long history of tolerance towards homosexuals and (b) a fairly activist gay/lesbian community, so you can expect any such discussion to be followed by lots of calls to the local Gendarmes - the guy was either an idiot or a babe in the woods if he thought he could spout that nonsense on the public airwaves as part of an official campaign platform and NOT attract the attention of law enforcement.
To finally get to the point of this post, I wonder what that nutbar's reaction would be if he considered this?
I suspect he's already gone insane. That's the only reasonable explanation I can come up with, for standing in front of a group of teenagers and advocating that.
He would have to be certified insane. I suspect he thinks everything's just fine in his demented little world, so he hasn't seen the need for professional help.
And if he hasn't said this to anyone else before, why would they suspect a thing?
Question: How many psychiatrists does it take to change a lightbulb? Answer: Only one, but it has to really, REALLY want to change.

(For the record, I don't agree.)
