morganskye: (noes!)

Ok, all of you know how I am beginning to hate Lowes. Well, hate is a little strong. I guess it's better to say that I'm not loving it like I used to. Anyway, they seem to drive new stakes into my heart every day. Examples: 1) I've had my vaca request for my move in for months, yet they still scheduled me to work the Friday I start moving. 2) I was asked on Saturday to switch my Wednesday for another girl's Tuesday shift. No biggie, except when I talk to the girl I'm trading with she doesn't know a thing about working for me on Wed. Apparently I was taking over her shift, not trading. Gee, now I'm working there 6 days this week and pushing 32 hours when I'm only part time. Ugh.

So here's my dilemma. Barry says I should tell them to shove it and quit. My heart agrees, but my head and pocket book are screaming 'don't you dare!!'. I'm not totally unhappy, just annoyed. I can't seem to get a day off anymore, which makes me tired and cranky. However, my bills are getting paid off while keeping a bit o' green in my pocket. So, what do you all think?

At least get another job first before you quit ;)

Since it's my pt and not my ft job, I wouldn't stress about it too much if I quit now. But I really shouldn't quit, and probably won't...

I think I'd have to second Aarana on this one :) Either have a new job in-pocket before you quit this one, or wait until you have enough savings that you're okay in the transitional period. That's pretty much what I did between my last job and this one, and it made it about a million and a half times easier.

Hey! I thought you were locked in a dungeon somewhere. ^_^

Yah, I need to save money, which is one of the reasons I started at Lowes. It's just a shame its gone from extra cash to 'omg! I need the check!'

Yay! Cussing!! ^_^

I agree with what you're saying. They really haven't pissed me off yet. It's more of a pain in the ass kind of thing. Plus I do have my 1 year review coming up...I should stay and see what they're willing to shell out.

It's 'easier' to get a job while you're working. I couldn't stand my job for that long, and I had the savings (or, 'fuck you money' if you will) to last for a year (less, if I'm using that money to start crafty business). So that's why I quit w/o having a job lined up.

I've never understood why it's easier to get a job while employed. I guess it's because you don't have financial stress beating you down. And personally I think you should start the crafty business. It sounds great!

That, and also you are wanted/desired by a company..so that means there's something good about you..so the place you interview would be like: Awesome, what a prize! She must really like US if she's thinking about leaving, etc etc.

Good point with that. It's just a shame I can't get into Home Depot. They pay $10 to start, which is $2 more than I started with at Lowes.

Mark me down as another who votes with Aarana. Get out the resume, go out on job interviews, take some sort of course at night school, get something better. Something that won't make you feel so Lowes all the time.

Sadly I can't afford school atm. If I stick with Lowes for a bit longer I could though. Hmm...

I voted 'quit', but I too believe that it's easier to get a job while you have one. If I had half a brain I would have told you to apply for the receptionist/floor salesman position at Melcer Tile, but I don't know if they're still accepting applications. It wouldn't be a night/weekend job anyways.

While I would have been cool working with you, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to stop myself from harassing your hubby. ^_^
