Wow, it's been a bit since I've updated. Huh. Well, let's start with last Thursday...
I've been pretty sick, as most of you know. Stomach something-or-other at the beginning of the month, then I caught the flu last week. Icky to be sure. Anyway, between the two I was out for 4 days in two weeks. My first day back last week (Thursday) Mr. Cooper called me into his office and immediatly starting talking about my absence. Well my mind started to freak out. 'Oh God, I'm going to be fired. Or on probation. AHHH!!'. Now if my brain would have been paying attention it would have stopped going on after he said 'We want you to stay here. You're a good employee'. It took a little bit for me to shut up mentally, but finally I heard what he was saying. Apparently he adores my work and wants me to stick around. That answers the firing question. I'm not on probation because my work hasn't suffered. Woot. Finally he asks me what can be done to improve my health. I flip out again because I hate pop questions (heaven help the man who asks me to marry him). I say that I'd been wanting to join a gym, but I can't afford it yet. He asks how much it was going to cost, which is around $40 a month. Then he says (this is the best part people) 'Ok, cut a check for it and go sign up'...you hear that? I got a FREE gym membership. The store paid for it in full. I'm now going to the Omni, which rules b/c there's one by work and one by my house. Barry also goes there so we'll be able to work out together. The only stipulation is that I have to make an effort. Mr. Cooper wants to see results or else I have to pay the store back. BFD, now that I'm not stressed about money, and I'm treating it like a work requirement, it'll be easy. Sweet!
Moral of this story: Being sick for four days will either get you a free gym membership or fired.
Well I went to the gym and signed up, then went to Arby's for lunch (no comment). I went through the drive-thru and on my merry way. Just before I get back to work I realize that they gave me the wrong food. Bah. So I drive back. When I walk in the lady behind the counter recognizes me and appologizes for the mix-up. She gives me the right order, then lets me keep the wrong one. So now I have my lunch, plus 5 ham and cheese sandwiches. Needless to say I was the hero of the office for bring free food.
Moral: People will love you if you give them food, and you don't have to tell them you got it for free.
Ok, now for the short and curly. I saw Barry for most of the weekend. We finally moved the storage unit into a smaller spot, which saves me a merry $15 a month (woop dee). At least it's out of the way. I had a very nice time otherwise. We went to a local wrestling match on Sat night. It was a blast! I yelled dirty things at the wrestlers. When you're one of 5 girls in a nearly all male crowd you can get away with a lot.
Sunday was mellow. Went shopping, walked around, and basically had a good time with Barry. Almost got another piercing for my ears, but nixed when I saw the price. Stayed with him on Sunday night as well, which helped with traffic the next morning. We're still both a little sick, so no nookie for me. *pout*
I've been sucked into the world of mp3 players and service. I have a Rio player on the way and a Napster membership. I'm kinda happy/sad with Napster. They're really picky. There are certain songs you can listen to for free, but you can burn/download them. Bastards.
And finally, I'm in chocolate love with the new Take 5 bar from Hershey's. It's soooo amazingly good. Salty, chocolatey, sweet, chewy. *eyes roll up into head and drools* So gooooood...
