Crap

It's 8:44am and I'm already in a pissy mood.

I got into work a little early (holy crap!) so I figured "Hey, it's going to be a good day!". When I get to my desk I find a HUGE bag of sugar sitting in my chair. O_o I put it in the kitchen, where it belongs, and then as I'm walking back the cleaning lady says "Why'd you put that there? It was on your chair for a reason."

(conversation deleted due to extreme sarcasm and borderline bitchiness)

Long story short I'm upset. That woman is an f'ing busy body. All she ever does is stick her nose in other people's business. If I ever eat non-diet food she gives me dirty looks and says "Oh, not sticking to your diet today?" I had hoped that my dirty looks in return and comments of "I can eat whatever I want" would make her shut up. Next time she does it I want to say "I appreciate your concern over my health, but please keep your comments to yourself. If I die from obesity you're more than welcome to tell my corpse 'I told you so'." However, I doubt even that will work. Since she is, technically, my co-worker I have to treat the situation with a bit of professionalism. My boss knows about the situation, so hopefully when I go kung-fu on this lady's butt, Kim will at least post bail for me. ^_^

Edit: The sugar issue and the fat issue are separate problems. The sugar was on my desk as a 'reminder' to pay whoever bought it (even though I don't have access to petty cash).

Does your boss know about this particular situation or just the situation as a whole? Only because there's a huge difference between some snide remarks and going out of your way to vindictively hurt a co-worker's feelings. (Like, the difference between "OMG. You're so fat!" and hanging pig-related items around your cubicle.)

The sugar and the fat issue are totally separate (thankfully). I think I just worded it wrong in the post. She felt it belonged there are a reminder for me to pay whoever bought it, even though I'm not the one with access to petty cash. -_-;

Kim knows about the fat issue. She asked if I wanted her to step in and say something. I told her no, but also said that if I couldn't handle it then I would need her help. She knows that while I can take a good teasing, making serious comments about my size is a big no-no.

Ah, OK. Though a post-it note would have sufficed in that situation....

Agreed. I'll still need a receipt since I can't just randomly pay someone for something. >_< I hope the whole week won't be like this.

Uh, I think a quick note on your desk would have been easier than leaving the whole damn bag in your seat. "Note: Please pay whoever bought the bag 'o sugar for the kitchen. Thanks." See? Totally different atmosphere, but same message without hauling around a bag of sugar with which to cause stress.

And I can't stand busy bodies. Thankfully there aren't any here at Melcer (at least not back here). Most people have enough going on in their lives that they barely have enough attention for their own much less someone else's business.

There were better ways to handle that. Ugh!

She's 'well known' at her church and does religious lectures, so I'm sure she thinks that since people listen to her there they'll listen to her where ever she goes. Boy have I got a news flash for her...

Three words - Hostile Work Environment.

Those three simple words with get HR moving faster then a day old donut sale with the police involved.

As a supervisor, I had been in a place time to time to remind my crew about those words. I almost had to suspend to recommend to fire someone because they were doing something like that and thought it was harmless.

We, the big people of the world, will no longer have to stand up to oppression by the skinny people, have to deal with the remarks of the uneducated, and we will not go quietly into the night. This is our fight, this is our battle, this is our independence day.....

Ok...so it was a rough night and I loved the speech from Independence day. :p

Hope your day gets better....I'm going job hunting in a bit.

If it doesn't stop I'll take action. She has been avoiding me, which is just as good. I'd rather not see her at all since I disagree with a lot of her actions.

Good luck with the job hunt! ^_^

I never believe in a HWE, I do what I can to make a point.

I do hope things get better and I am glad you liked the speech.

I'll keep you posted on the job hunt.

I'm sure they will, one way or another.

Cool. I'm sure you'll find something quickly.

I'm glad you clarified that, because I was about to go ape-sh*t.

Oh trust me, if she was really trying to pull something like that then I would have been writing a completely different post. The sad thing is, it wouldn't surprise me if she did play like that.

OK, wait, you don't have access to petty cash, why was the sugar in your seat and NOT the person who DOES have access??

O_o

Two possible reasons:
1) The person who does have access keeps her office locked when she's not there.
2) Whoever bought the sugar decided to be lazy.

Ok, but Mz. High and Mighty there, got in your business about it, you did set HER straight that you don't have the power to pay the person, right?
