Read or don't. Doesn't matter to me. ^_^

“Why Akiko?” she asked, the words barely coming out as her former friend’s hand wrapped itself tighter against her throat.
“Why? Telling you would be pointless seeing as you don’t remember things from then too clearly. Let’s just say that our mothers’ insisted on taking away the one thing that kept me sane. Of course, you making the Prince go back on his word didn’t help things either. I know it wasn’t personal, but I can’t help but keep a grudge. A thousand years is a long time to be angry, but I’ve been able to do it very well.”
With another quick squeeze she released the poor girl’s neck, letting her slide to the floor in a heap to be temporarily forgotten. Akiko walked away towards the bar to get yet another drink, stepping over the unconscious bodies of people she, at one time, was very close to. That didn’t matter anymore. What mattered was that she knew the truth. The people she trusted, even loved, didn’t feel the same way. Her own sister didn’t stand with her any more all because of a small incident a millennia ago.
“I know what you’re thinking.” The voice seemed to come from the shadows. Akiko didn’t bother to look. Instead she dug up a bottle of rum that hadn’t been smashed along with everything else in the place. To her left a lean girl in a sailor fuku emerged from the darkness. Nearly everything on her was black, from her hair to her boots…everything except her soul. Akiko could see right into her sister’s heart. It shone bright and clear as a diamond.
“They had every right to question you. It’s not like you have the best track record.”
Akiko snorted, taking a swig straight from the bottle.
“Yes, you couldn’t wait to tell them about my ‘mental issues’. I’m sure it was fun to have a laugh about it.”
“It wasn’t like that. They needed to know after we found out about our pasts.”
Akiko threw the bottle at her sister. The glass and alcohol rained down behind the new-comer like glitter.
“That was a FAMILY matter Amaya dear. Family! Or has the idea been lost on you? There are things that should be kept a secret.”
“Secrets? Oh you have your share of those.”
“Yes. Yes I do. Tell me sister, haven’t you figured out why I know so much about our past? While you and the others only have bits and pieces, I have full memories?”
Akiko got up from the bar and casually walked over to Amaya. A few groans could be heard over the sound of broken glass being stepped on.
“It should be obvious. After all, you’re the smart one.”
A few moments later Amaya’s eyes widened.
“You’re not Akiko!” she whispered.
Akiko smiled. It was the kind of smile that led to trouble in dark alleys. Amaya stepped back, trying to hide in the shadows but Akiko pulled her close.
“I am Crown Princess Kurayami. Akiko is gone, and soon every Sailor Senshi who ever opposed me will be too.”
She let go over Amaya quickly, throwing the girl off balance.
“Goodnight Star Sailor Vega. Until tomorrow…”
I'll tell you the back story if you want to hear it. Mostly I'm posting this because it's the first thing I've written in...well, years really. Oh, in case you're curious, the setting is the Three Light's club, it's Usagi who's pinned to the wall in the beginning, and various Senshi are on the floor. Akiko has her own Ginshouzu (sp) and she knows how to use it without killing herself. Woo, scary! ^_^
