morganskyeI got my federal tax return money today, which is about 4 days sooner than expected. SQUEEE!!!!!!!
First thing I did was pay off a HUGE credit card that has been hanging over my head for years. $950 is worth getting rid of those bastards. Like Capital One, you can't close the card until it's paid off. Therefore I kept getting $85 annual fees (yes, you read it right). Now that it's paid off I have a bargaining chip. I'd like to keep it for my credit rating. I've had the card since 2000ish, so that's nearly 8 years of history. Once the card is closed it's gone. I'm going to call once the payment posts and tell them that they either need to close the card or take off the annual fee forever. If they close it...meh, fine. Whatever. It's not worth paying $85 a year to keep the history around.
Secondly I put $65 to the Capital One card I'm using to pay for the room at Katsu. When I get state back I'll be putting about $500+ more to it. That will leave around $100 left to pay AFTER the hotel has made its charges. Woo!
Finally I put $50 in my pocket. Booyah! I'm already trying to stop myself from spending it. lol!
I was very lucky this year. I'll be able to pay off two CC (HSBC and a Capital One), pay for the hotel room at Katsu, and throw some cash at my other bills. After the dust settles I'll be down to a CapOne cc, Chase cc, bank Visa cc, small personal loan, Firestone store card, Lane Bryant sc, my last hospital bill, car, rent, and insurance. While that still seems like a lot, it's nothing compared to when I moved back to SC. By this time next year you can cut out all but CapOne and Chase (keeping those), Firestone (for emergencies), rent and insurance. My car will be paid off within a year. Yay!
Normally I don't 'brag' about my return until I've got all the money in my hand. It's a financial karma thing. Anyway, I don't really think it's bragging when I'm paying off bills. amayagoddess ;P j/k. Barry bought a guitar for himself before Christmas. I guess we're all Guitar Heroes now...except for me because I'm totally a lead singer! ^_^
