OMGWTFFTW!!
I got my federal tax return money today, which is about 4 days sooner than expected. SQUEEE!!!!!!!
First thing I did was pay off a HUGE credit card that has been hanging over my head for years. $950 is worth getting rid of those bastards. Like Capital One, you can't close the card until it's paid off. Therefore I kept getting $85 annual fees (yes, you read it right). Now that it's paid off I have a bargaining chip. I'd like to keep it for my credit rating. I've had the card since 2000ish, so that's nearly 8 years of history. Once the card is closed it's gone. I'm going to call once the payment posts and tell them that they either need to close the card or take off the annual fee forever. If they close it...meh, fine. Whatever. It's not worth paying $85 a year to keep the history around.
Secondly I put $65 to the Capital One card I'm using to pay for the room at Katsu. When I get state back I'll be putting about $500+ more to it. That will leave around $100 left to pay AFTER the hotel has made its charges. Woo!
Finally I put $50 in my pocket. Booyah! I'm already trying to stop myself from spending it. lol!
I was very lucky this year. I'll be able to pay off two CC (HSBC and a Capital One), pay for the hotel room at Katsu, and throw some cash at my other bills. After the dust settles I'll be down to a CapOne cc, Chase cc, bank Visa cc, small personal loan, Firestone store card, Lane Bryant sc, my last hospital bill, car, rent, and insurance. While that still seems like a lot, it's nothing compared to when I moved back to SC. By this time next year you can cut out all but CapOne and Chase (keeping those), Firestone (for emergencies), rent and insurance. My car will be paid off within a year. Yay!
Normally I don't 'brag' about my return until I've got all the money in my hand. It's a financial karma thing. Anyway, I don't really think it's bragging when I'm paying off bills. It's not like I went out and got a drum set and bass guitar like Miss
amayagoddess ;P j/k. Barry bought a guitar for himself before Christmas. I guess we're all Guitar Heroes now...except for me because I'm totally a lead singer! ^_^

I tend not to talk about money either, but your talking about it was happy glee!
Having debt over your head really drags you down emtionally.
Hugs and yay you!

I am trying to really limit my BPAL addiction.
Doing better than most.
I may take you up on the soap making soon.
One of my best friends has a sent she loves and it was discontinued.
I think she would love have soap from it.

Sure, it won't be a problem. Just let me know before you send it so I know to keep a look out.

You just did something so fabulous that shopping is shadowed in comparison.
I will definately check with you, about your schedule and if you have time, before I send anything.

We may be doing Archon this Oct and I look forward to that.

Sounds like fun. I want to do more cons, but it's too expensive since I have to fly to nearly all of the good ones. D*C is the closest, and that's 6 hours on the road.

We went 2 years ago and had a great time.
We drive.

Wish you could come to Katsu. I can't stand Otakon. It's too big for its britches.

I save my money and pay off bills just like everyone else. Nothing wrong with something for me every now and then...especially if it was on sale! ^_^
Dude! If you and Travis wouldn't kill each other we could so start a band, lol. *points to my post* Nick said he'd be the guitarist! But uh, we should look hot before we start a band...good thing we're exercising!

Yeah, I'd probably kick his ass. ^_^ Then again, if there's cash involved I can be fairly mellow. lol!

I also tried to play an acoustic guitar that mom has, but it was HARD because it made my fingers hurt. Much the way that I stopped playing clarinet in favor of a brass instrument, playing a bass is easier to handle than a guitar for me.

Lar asked what I was going to buy with my refund (not blow it all, but just buy something that I normally would not or spend months agonizing over). I considered Rock Band, but since I quit games so quickly...eh, not so wise. I might go buy some clothes or something. Heh.

If I splurge it's usually for books or something equally nerdy.
Btw, did you like the soap?
