Quick questions about LowCoCon
Jun. 10th, 2008 09:03 amI got some numbers for two hotels in the area. If you lovely people could help with my decision? kthx. ^_^
We were looking for a place with a ballroom and at least once smaller room for Dealer's space. It needs to be cheap, but not sleazy (where have I heard that before?). Food in the area is a plus, as well as close to the interstate. We want to hold the con either in early July or early October so that we aren't competing with other conventions.
Ramada:
Has dates open in late October.
Room rate is $89 +breakfast for 2
Decent sized rooms, but ass expencive. No final numbers, but it'll be around $2500 for the weekend.
OLD hotel. Remodeled on the inside, but the outside looks like hell.
VERY central location with lots of food around, and it's right off the interstate.
Holiday Inn:
Has dates in late October and early July.
Room rate is $119, includes breakfast for everyone in the room
BIG ballroom that can be divided into three sections. Much better rate than Ramada (est $1500)
Practically new. Maybe 4 years old tops.
Also right off the interstate and very close to the airport.
Food is nearby, but it'll take some walking. They do have a full restaurant though.
So far Holiday Inn is winning, but until we sign a contract everything is up in the air. *sigh* Of course if the room rate is higher than I'd want to lower the reg rate, finances willing. In comparison, Roundcon is held in Columbia in April. Their pre-reg is $25, $30 atd. Their hotel rate is $104 and they do table top games only right now.
I'm hoping to have some 'alternative entertainment', such as fan films, open console play, fansub showings, perhaps a manga trading table and a hall costume contest.
Now to the brass tacks
