I need to get LowCoCon's website up and running asap since we've secured the site. This means I need 1) a mascot (for the site and badges) and 2) a decent looking site (needs a forum, several 'info' pages, and a reg page linked to paypal). The site I can update myself once it's rolling. As for the artwork, I'd need 2-3 different poses of the mascot. You'll probably need to comment/email me about the details. (morgan skye @ gmail.com)

As for how I can pay you; There are several options. I can either...
1) set up crafts or artwork of yours for sale in the dealer's room at no cost
2) agree on a price and pay you after we start getting income from the con
3) free reg and crash space if you'd like to attend

Sadly we're broke right now, but it's something that we need as soon as we can get it.

Any takers? Anybody? Bueller?

If you can find hosting, I suggest using a TinyPortal/Simple Machines forum setup. It basically has the front page as a blog type template that is super easy to update then you can add pages from there. I use that combination for my singing group...here's the site: http://thegeekwithin.com/sakurairo/ The templates and everything are pretty much plug and play so once everything is set up, it's really easy to keep updated and everything and it's all free ^_^

(If you need help with setting that up, I can try to help....I make no guarantees that it won't take me a little while to figure everything out. I swear my memory is a sieve.)

That's the rub. I have no idea. I was thinking of something Southern...but what? No animal really pops in my head with South Carolina is mentioned...not unless you could seafood...

The again, it doesn't have to be an animal. It could be a person too.

Right now there are no details. I'm completely open to suggestions. I was wanting something Southern-themed, but that's proving to be hard to figure out.

Southern themed, eh? Hmm...
What kind of convention is it for exactly?

Hmm, I wouldn't be opposed to that. We're not an anime con, but the style will work.

We're a gaming convention. RPG, LARP, table top, board games, etc.

Heh, when we booked the hotel they thought we were gaming as in hunting. I laughed so hard when the sales rep told me that!

I'm picturing a little girl dressed up as a crab.. If you want multiple poses, I could do one of her rolling some dice, another with a giant foam sword, another with her holding a videogame controller...

Fantasy is good too. Anything really works honestly.

I'm taking all the awesome art I can get. We were hoping to have different badges for staff vs. attendees.

I am such a dork for mascots too. Here's some ideas to toss around, though I will grant that I do toss out some really idiotic ideas before the good ones start popping up:

The state butterfly for SC is the tiger swallowtail (http://www.stateanimals.com/states/southcarolina/swallowtail_text.html) so perhaps you could have a girl with big yellow butterfly wings holding random gaming items....dice, board game pieces, whatever...

You could just use a 20-sided die as a "mascot" and have the different sides say different things instead of having numbers. For example, one of the sides could say "Registration" and another side could say "Awesome Games" or something to that effect. (That makes it sound like a Magic 8-Ball....)

More brainstorming will come later ^_^

"Southern-themed" made me think of a big, happy, shrimp...until I remembered that I'd seen that before, lol. Although, you could hire this guy if you decided on copyright infringement! :D

I think [livejournal.com profile] evilcatsterer has a good idea with a girl dressed as a crab, but of course I'm partial to cute. XD

For curiosity's sake, I looked up SC's state animals. Nothing really stands out other than a Loggerhead Sea Turtle, lol.

I vote for an armadillo with fairy wings as a mascot.

...ok, so i've got an armadillo obsession. And there really is such thing as a 'fairy armadillo'.

As to the website, I can do basic stuff at my current level. I'm still in the learning process. I could put together a basic website, but the messageboard aspect is beyond what i'm currently able to do on my own. Plenty of free 'boards out there, though. For MMHP we have our site, then we link off-site to a free messageboard thingy.
Registration page is a problem for my skill level....can't for the life of me get that damn form on Dusk's site to actually work like it's supposed to, so I doubt i'd be able to do a reg-form page for you. Unless there's an example of the proper code out there I could 'modify' to fit the site.

Prod me if you want me to do something websiteish. If you know someone with more site-building knowledge, then go with them. I'm not one to get offended over things like that.

How about an e-mail with any details you already have put together? Information, mostly....and colorschemes. Background, text, links...where you want the menu bar to be. Prod me at GryffinVonDunkelheit at gmail dot com. And I think i'll doodle an armadillo just for the hell of it. Or maybe an oppossum. They're definitely a 'Southern' animal. And they're known to be a little on the nutty side.
