Last night I started on my wig.
Last night I wanted to throw a chair out the window.
Ugh.
Ok, things started out fairly well. I put the wig on a foam head, tacked it down, then put the thing on my wig stand. I tied down the sections I was going to cut off so that it wouldn't go flying everywhere. So far so good! I cut the hair in line with the counter the stand was mounted to. It wasn't a completely even cut, but that's why I'm giving it a flip. I trimmed it up a bit then set it aside. Great! I moved on to the tail since that was going to be the harder of the two projects. This is when it went to HELL!
I went with the dreadlock look since I got the better response with it. I broke open the bag of white I got to go with the blue. I had no problem with dreading it, however sealing it was another story. I saw an idea online where you wet the hair, cover it with a damp towel, then use a flat iron to steal/seal it. I tried and tried and TRIED. Either my flat iron (honestly I'm amazed I own one) was too crappy, my towel was too thick, etc...Anyway, it didn't work. Ok fine. Let's use the boiling water method. Long story short, burned fingers and a mass of semi-melted hair. Thank goodness I was using white instead of blue.
I see myself getting a steamer in the near future. The other sealing methods just aren't working for me. At least I can also iron my clothes with it...
