More crafty babble
Jun. 11th, 2009 08:44 amI splurged and bought $10 worth of yarn at Walmart last night, as well as some tulle. It's weird, they have a better selection than Hancock Fabrics. O_o Anyway, while I was there I found out that the last Walmart with a craft section will be going away after next month. *cries* I know Walmart is the evil machine that ruins the small town economy, but around here we have NOTHING. If they go away I'll be stuck with shopping online or driving to Charlotte. *pouts*
Getting to the point. I made three sets of yarn falls last night. Nothing too amazing. I made a set for Alyssa in the blue and silver motif she likes, and two sets for myself. One set is this pretty multi-color with white, yellow, and light green. Very spring, but also rather thin. I used one skein just for one fall and it doesn't look too full. The other set is another multi with blue, dark blue, green, and yellow. This one is MUCH thicker, but I haven't mounted it yet. I think I'll have to break out the sewing elastic instead of using hair bands.
I found a place online that sells close-out/discountinued yarn for CHEAP. It's called Smiley's Yarns out of NY. Most skeins are $1-$2, and they've got Ping Pong, Boa, Eyelash, Ci Ci, etc. All the good ones for making great falls. They have Lion Brand Incredible for $1.99!! They go for $7.99 at Hancock. Shipping is $12.95 no matter how much (or little) you buy. The downside? Minimum order of $50. However, if I go this route (which I think I will), my costs will go from $5-$6 a set to $3 max a set.
This will happen after my crin order, which will hopefully occur soon. I'm itching to get my hands on that stuff!!
