morganskye: (SM - Split Lives)
The Costume Contest could be considered a success. I was the only major event that finished on time. Yay me! I got a total of 27 entries, however, only about 20 actually showed up to the contest. Jerks. There were a ton of issues like the auction running late, being given a room to line up in but couldn't stay in due to scheduling, and dumb people trying to enter the contest after it started. >_< I felt sorry for one guy though. He missed the line up, so he didn't have a judging paper. I felt bad to tell him he couldn't enter, but it wouldn't be fair to everyone else who obeyed the rules.

There will be a LOT of changes for next year. LOTS of changes.

Otherwise it was alright. I didn't do much since I was stuck at reg most of the time. I saw a few people from last year. I also met people who were in last year's contest who wouldn't enter again because last year was ass. I'm going to have to promote my butt off to get rid of the stigma.

I meed a post-con passed out icon...

Oh, and for the Sailormoon loves on my List.

OK, I'm having trouble figuring out how to organize next year's contest. This year I had the standard breakdown: Novice, Amateur, Professional (3 places in each), and Best in Show. While this is very simple, it also leave a lot of room for abuse either by accident or intention.

My thought was to perhaps have different categories. Craftsmanship? Original Character? I'm lost. I'm not sure how to do this. On the plus side, I've been given permission to take a 2 hour block of time to have a real judging panel. Each person will have one-on-one time with the panel in a closed door setting instead of a 30 second glance over in front of an audience.

I really need suggestions. I know I beg for help a lot, but since I rarely get to actually enter costume contests due to my own lack of confidence I don't know what different ways there are to do things.
