morganskye: (Velma)
Barry was informed that no one in his department will be getting a raise this year. It has to do with the budget. Everyone pretty much agreed that it was better skip the raises in favor of not having to fire anyone. Still, >_<

I'm working on a non-costume costume. We're not allowed to wear costumes at work for Halloween, so I made a bet with a co-worker. I told her that I could wear a costume and not get busted for it. We've got lunch on the line. So I decided to bust out my natural ace. I'm going to be Velma from Scooby-Doo. I already have brown hair (pretty close hair style too), glasses, have already worn an orange sweater to work this season (so no surprises), as well as brown shoes. Yes, I know they're supposed to be red but I don't have them. I need this to be cheap!

I'm going to buy some orange socks online. I hope my massive mutant calves don't make them look too bad. I also need to make a red skirt. I've found a few free-form patterns online, but I don't know if I'm up to it. However, it would be good practice...and I do have real sewing space...*sigh* I should just do it. My only concern is that my skirt would be hanging from my tummy pooge and not my waist. It's that very reason why I don't wear skirts. We'll see what happens. Looks like I'll be fabric shopping this weekend!

In more perky news, B and I will be splurging so we can go to a local haunted house event down at Boone Hall Plantation. $20 gets us two haunted houses and a hayride. The only snag is that we want to go to the farm events, when end at 5pm, but the HH stuff doesn't start till 7pm (to allow the kiddies to clear out). I guess we could go to dinner in between, but there's no such thing as a cheap meal in Mt. Pleasant. D'oh! Fonduly Yours is in Mt. P, but I don't think I could stretch my bank account too much further. *sigh*
