morganskye: (Fifth Element - Bzzt)
I'm making a post that isn't about conventions, costumes, or anything nerdy!! Except by saying that I kinda did post about those things. Darn!

Anyway, I was on cuteoverload.com and I noticed that the Humane Society is thanking Oprah for her 21 day vegan diet. Ok, 1) The Humane Society is evil. Although they don't support PETA, they don't stop them either. Boo to them, 2) I don't watch Oprah. I really don't care. However, the combo of the two got me curious. So I hopped the link and took a look. Apparently Oprah is on some diet (again). Wee. When I looked at the menu I freaked. Dude, I couldn't do it. She can't have milk, bread, or hell, anything!! Seriously couldn't do it. But it did make me think.

Could I go without meat for 3 weeks? I mean, I don't have a chef like she does. Hell, I could eat anything if I had a chef to make it all for me. I couldn't go totally vegan. I like my cereal and milk in the morning, among other things. I do think I could do without the meat. Honestly I don't eat it at home often because we forget to take it out of the freezer. I really only eat it when I'm buying lunch. Simple answer there isn't it? So, starting tomorrow (because I have a meaty lunch) I'm going to cut out as much meat as possible. Admittedly there will be times when it'll sneak into the meal. I'm not going to deny Barry his meat (man that sounds wrong), but I'll try to cook our foods seperately. For example, I made fried rice last night (he loves it). I'll add the sausage last and only in his portion. Easy! Dunno how I'm going to get around the turkey and chicken though. Perhaps I should just cut out red meat? What counts as red meat.

Suddenly I'm feeling very uneducated...
