Evil computer, day 3
Jan. 21st, 2005 09:29 amShortly after my last post at work my computer froze. No biggie, it's a quick fix...or so I thought! *ominous music* Turns out my almost new harddrive was corrupted. Majorly corrupted. It got stuck in a constant reboot cycle that nothing could break. Therefore I had to get a new one from Dell and have my outside techie try to ghost it. Well the new HD didn't arrive till yesterday. It was installed by a weasle of a guy who didn't know anything. They could have just shipped me the HD and gotten the ball rolling sooner. Anyway, Jon has it now. He said that it should only take about 20 min to ghost, but apparently there's a lot more wrong than what we thought so I'll be lucky to get it today. *slams head on desk* I'm tired of this! My main complaint is not so much that the HD went bad. It sometimes happens. My problem is that it happened on the same machine less than 6 months ago. And said machine isn't even a year old yet. So this will be the third HD in it in less than a year. As you can see, that doesn't make me happy at all. Stupid Dell! *grumble whine*
I'm working on Kim's computer while she's out on maternity leave (5 days past due and no baby yet). Thing is I can't do a lot of things here because:
1) I really don't want to lug several heavy stacks of paperwork to another desk
2) There was some stuff on my compy that wasn't anywhere else (our server is uber-small so I can't backup much)
3) I'm pissy therefore I don't want to make an effort. BAH!
Other than that I found out that I'm only 16% loser. Go me!
