ConCarolinas Report

This weekend was incredibly mixed. I completely enjoyed seeing my friends, staying with the lovely Kim and Mary, getting to finally wear Telma in public, and general con fun. However The Contest was a giant ball of sharp spikey stress which made me completely break down emotionally. Seriously. A few people were watching me for the rest of the night to be sure I didn't do something stupid. But first! Here's a shot of Telma from the photographer in the Dealer's Room. No cut for you!

Telma

I'm pretty!! Although I already want to remake things, like the jacket. It's obvious that I've lost enough weight that I already need to take it in, even without throwing the corset into the equation. Plus it needs more interfacing and a remake of the sleeves...*babbles on for a few minutes*

Ok, anyway. CC. I'm going to cut out a metric TON of drama, gossip, and hear-say. As far as I'm concerned, there is no one person or event that made me have my breakdown. It was a lot of miscommunication, misunderstanding, and a giant pile of little problems that all turned into a nightmare. While no contest ever goes without a hitch, this one had more then its fair share of mind-bending problems. Add to that the fact that it's my last one with this convention (therefore I wanted it perfect), and you have all you need for a Morgan Meltdown. I bawled my eyes out to the point that I couldn't even stand up. I can't say I'm sorry and thank you enough to Jada, the ladies in registration, and my crew of judges/emcees/friends who saw me snap. I'm pretty sure I freaked them out completely. Special lovings to Angela, Kim, and Kat. You three really helped me in ways you probably don't even realize and I'm so lucky to have you as my friends.

Aside from Freakout 2012, the con was pretty nice. I'm torn about returning next year strictly as an attendee, but all in all it's a good friendly con. Hell, maybe I'll enter the costume contest. :)

Your costume does look pretty! I am sorry about the Con drama- I had my fill of that AZ this year. Unless I am back in Artist alley's then I have had enough cons for a while myself.

Hey, I did it too

Morgan,

I had my own breakdown over my daughter not taking my meal to registration like I asked her to do. Wow, overreaction much for me?

It happens to all of us. The last con where I had a major meltdown I ended up in the hospital. I had a pulled muscle in my neck but more than that I felt like I failed. It happens to all of us and we through it.

Thank you for all that you've done for the con and please come have fun next year!

yay! pretty Telma!

I still feel bad that I didn't look for you after the contest. : (

:: HUGGGGSSS::

If it makes you feel better, the contest didn't look like a huge ball of stress from the outside, I'd say. There were some issues with "who's filling out the contest winner forms" "what were their real names?" - but they were dealt with okay, I think. I'd bet the contestants were none the wiser.

And you totally should enter next year!

You did fine!

Morgan, you did a great job. Things ran alot smoother than you think but it is difficult when things don't always go as planned. But that happens all the time at Cons. Everyone knows this and I have not heard one bit of negative feedback about the contest. Please give yourself a big pat on the back. And we EXPECT you to be back next year as an attendee!
Janet I.

First - Love the costume!
Second - YOU LOOK FABULOUS! I can see the difference! YAY YOU!@
Third - the drama of any event is rarely dramatic to the audience.
(Well, except Pathulk in his druken state falling backward off the DragonCon stage.)

So everything is good.

I think it would be great if you entered the costume contest next year. Even just from an attendee's view, I can see how much you have done for ConCarolinas. So, I'm thinking that it would be a very good thing for you to get out in front of the crowd, and get some attention for your own costumes.

You looked great in your costume! And it was great to finally speak to you face-to-face. I'm VERY sad to hear that the contest went badly for you. Please come next year and experience the con without the stress of the costume contest, and to hang out more.
