morganskye: (ST - Still Pretty)
Along with my financial and life goals, I decided to add one more to the mix: Being Aware That I'm A Girl.

I won't say I'm a tomboy, but I'm severally lacking in many of the feminine things that most of my women friends know. Putting eyeliner on properly, wearing high heels, buying the correct bra...you know, the basics. Yes I know that just as many of my friends don't know these things as do, but I want to learn. I'd like to not only wear a small amount of makeup daily, but to make it look natural. Right now I only know 'Makeup Gun on 11' kind of stuff. Subtle is a mystery to me.

My first step is to get into the habit of good skin care. Right now all I do is wash my face twice a day and moisturize when I remember. NO BUENO! I'm 32 now and that won't cut it anymore. If I want to be one of those chicks who looks 40 at 50 then I need to step up my game.

The second step is to use the products I own. I'm in a bad habit of buying something thinking it will get me into a good routine only to have said item sit on a shelf and collect dust. NO MORE! I have more hair products then Snookie and enough face gunk to make Jwoww question my sanity. Don't even get me started on samples. I never turn down free stuff, which is fine assuming I use it. Going hand-in-hand is the added bonus that if I have a good product I try not to use it. If something smells really good then I'll never crack it open. Perfume and body wash are the hardest for me to use. >_<

The third, and probably easiest, is to use lotion on more than my face and hands. I think I'll get this habit first because I've already been in lotion overload with my sunburn. Right now I'm halfway through a bottle of Avon Moisture-Lock, which is great because while it's good it's also very heavy. I'm hoping to replace it with something lighter, but only after I've used what I have/stop peeling. Ick!

This morning I was off to a good start. After my shower I used astringent (had it for 3 years. glad it doesn't expire), and two samples from DHC (a Japanese skin care company aimed at an older crowd). The moisturizer was good in a basic sort of way. There was enough in the pack to do my face and neck easily. The eye cream was more of a gel and I loved it. It went on very very smoothly (a plus since the area is so delicate) and I can't feel it at all. It does double duty as a dark circle lightener which is great since I have those in spades as of late. This might become a Full Size Purchase in the future. I have two more packs of the stuff, and it looks like there's at least 3 uses in each pack so I'll be able to get a good idea of if I truly want more.

Hopefully if I can continue with this then I'll not only have a happier body, but a more confident attitude. :)
