morganskye: (Bio - Plasmid Therapies)
I rarely talk about personal things here. My last non-nerd post was all the way back in February. I guess I need to open up more.

Anyway, my mom had reconstructive knee surgery yesterday. They took off some of her tibia, adjusted the connective tissue, and left her with a six inch scar over her left knee. She'll be in the hospital till Friday, then on bed rest for six weeks. I went to visit her yesterday and she was doing well. Sleepy and doped up, but that's normal. Thankfully Mom does a lot of hand sewing so she'll have plenty to do while she's laid up and out of work. Thank goodness she's been saving her vacation days.

Dad is doing well also. He's hating his night job (QA for an auto parts manufacturer), but he'll hopefully be retiring in October.

Owen and I are still good. :) I only get to see him for 24 hours a week now. He comes down Saturday afternoon around 4, and leaves the same time Sunday. It's rough, but we get by and it won't last forever. We did have a bad moment a few weeks ago though. We were having lunch when the topic of anniversary plans came up. After a few comments from me he realized that I thought our anni was on March 20...which was the anni date for myself and the Ex. He was incredibly gracious though, and told me that he understood. Almost 6 years with someone is a long time, and March 20 is mentally close to May 17. I'm very lucky to have someone who's so patient with me and my bad brain.
